Responding to suspected COVID-19 exposure
Date: 28/04/2020 Location: 60 Frederick St, Kitchener and 652 Princess St, Kingston Dear Trade Partners,
Today our province has surpassed over 12,000 cases of the COVID-19 virus. We need to be alert, vigilant and stick to the methods we have at our disposal to tackle the spread. Our consistency in actions taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will make a huge impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of our personnel, consultants, visitors and all their respective families.
I would like to share with you the standard practice we have in place for responding to suspected COVID-19 exposure on site:
➢ If any employee feels like they may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, they need to inform their supervisor, stay home and self-isolate immediately. Please encourage the employee to contact Telehealth Ontario or their healthcare provider to find out if they may be eligible for a COVID-19 test.
➢ Supervisors should enable workers who may have been exposed to take precautions to protect themselves as appropriate by watching for symptoms and possibly by removing themselves from the workplace for at least 14 days if they display any symptoms or until COVID-19 is ruled out. Determine potential exposure by tracing employees who have been in close contact (face to face conversation for 15 minutes, spending more than 2 hours in the same room with the employee displaying symptoms) with the employee in question.
➢ Have a plan in place to thoroughly clean and sanitize the areas the employee with the potential exposure had been working in.
➢ In the event of a confirmed positive case, inform IN8 Construction Management Inc. and assist public health authorities in the contact tracing process. Always keep in contact with the employee and update all individuals that may have been potentially exposed.
➢ Fulfill Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development reporting requirements for infectious diseases.
Thank you very much for your continued cooperation and all your efforts to control the spread of this virus. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any one of our Construction Management representatives regarding this message.
